Prepare

Questions to Consider:

  1. Most of all, what I'd like for you to do is read the sermon text together as a family prior to corporate worship. Do that, pray it, soak in it, discuss it as friends, as spouses, as parents. Some questions to help:
  2. In what ways does the Lord vindicate Job in 42:7-9?
  3. How is Job's intercession for his friends a portrait of Jesus?
  4. In 42:10-15, the Lord at last restores Job. Why has He done so? Does this support the prosperity gospel? Why not? In what ways is Job restored? Of what is this a picture?
  5. In 42:16-17, we're told that Job lived a long and full life and then he died. What are your feelings reading that? What are we to make of Job's life? What are we to make of Job's suffering? What's our ultimate hope in suffering? Go back and read Job 19:25-27.
