Questions to Consider:

  1. Most of all, what I'd like for you to do is read the sermon text together as a family prior to corporate worship. Do that, pray it, soak in it, discuss it as friends, as spouses, as parents. Some questions to help:
  2. What sights does John see of the new creation in 21:1-2? Anything stand out to you? Is Heaven the final state of our glorification?
  3. What sounds (or sweet reliefs) does John hear of in this new creation (21:3-4)?
  4. Why does God turn us to the certainty of this new creation in 21:5-6a? What does He say to establish that certainty?
  5. What characterizes the citizenry (citizens) of the new creation? Who will inherit the recreated cosmos of Christ? What does John say positively? What does John say negatively, and how can we spin that positively for our sake?
